This exciting, varied and practical programme is aimed at those who want a career in art, art teaching, theatre set design, graphic design, illustration, animation, architecture, interior design, fine art or sculpture. Join a supportive and challenging environment, where you will learn how to approach the creative process to work through design briefs, while developing the skills and portfolio needed to achieve your professional goals.
You will need 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4/A*-C including Maths and Science. Applicants with a grade 3 in English will be accepted, but must study a GCSE in English alongside this programme.
Explore disciplines such as observational drawing, illustration, painting, 3D body supported sculpture and printing, while developing important interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
This involves practical projects and commissions, presentations and the development of a portfolio.
Our expert tutors will help you to set, work towards, monitor and evidence your own personal targets.
Last year, students were involved in three exciting ‘live’ assignments: leading a community ‘Big Draw’ event, creating a dementia ward mural at Clifton Hospital and providing the costumes and stage backdrop for a theatrical production. Study visits have included Manchester galleries, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Liverpool Tate Gallery.
