If you have a natural affinity for computers and IT and you’re thinking about a career in this area, this programme is for you. You will develop fundamental skills in areas such as systems, networking and web design before going on to specialise in one of the following pathways: Hardware and System Security; Software and Game Development; and Interactive Media Design and Development. You will also develop important employability skills.
You will need 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4/A*-C including Maths and Science. Applicants with a grade 3 in English will be accepted, but must study a GCSE in English alongside this programme.
You will study topics such as communication and employability skills, computer systems, computer networks, client side customisation of web pages, human computer interaction, digital graphics, computer animation and computer game design.
A range of assessment methods includes observations, presentations, written reports, practical sessions, quizzes, recordings and productions.
Contextual learning is an important part of this programme. Our students have enjoyed work experience opportunities at NST Travel Group, being involved in creating a sixth form college publication and designing logos for computing companies.
New applications are no longer being accepted for Lytham Sixth Form College following the decision to close the College in summer 2019.
